International Day for Tolerance at the Museum for Islamic Art

Every year the UN marks International Day for Tolerance in order to raise public awareness of the dangers of intolerance and discriminatory and unequal attitude. The Museum for Islamic Art, for which promoting tolerance is one its principal objectives, will mark International Day for Tolerance on Thursday November 29, with a range of activities.


International Day for Tolerance Program:

16:00-17:30: Us or Us, presented by artist, illustrator and activist Zev Engelmayer

This is an event for families and children, whereby the participants are invited to create a giant colorful wall banner together. The banner will feature images of tolerance, hands with faces that represent different sectors of the population. The joint work and the images the participants choose will convey the possibility of living together and joint creation. At the end of the event the banner will hung on the wall of the Museum for Islamic Art.

21:00-22:30 - UmmaGumma, one of Israel’s leading dance groups hosts: the vocalist of the Hebrews of Dimona, Elisheva Bat Israel, artist vocalist Rabbi David Menachem, and vocalist and oud player Fuad Abu Ghannam in a tolerance performance which incorporates black music from New Orleans together with Israeli songs, Arabic arrangements and Jewish roots music,


23:00 until the last dancer leaves: DJ Shahar Oud with a new Middle East party
