Singer songwriter Rachela wends her way between classical Arabic music, hip-hop and jazz, in a show of Khaliji music based on the singing, instrumental music and dance developed by Bedouin and East African slaves in the countries of the Persian Gulf.

Rachela – vocals, Yitzhak Ventura – ney and musical director, Eliyassaf Beshari – bass, Yair Tsabari – percussion, Guy Tiram – oud

In the last decade, singer and songwriter Rachela has dedicated herself to Khaliji music, a Bedouin musical style which originates from the Arabian Peninsula. The style is characterized by hypnotic tempos which come from various countries in the region, and are influenced by Indian and African rhythmic patterns. Rachela recorded her first album of Khaliji music, a musical tradition which has spread out from its source in Saudi Arabia to the other side of the Red Sea, to the Sinai Peninsula. The album led to an international career which incorporates concerts and renown in Bahrain and Dubai, after which she released a second album called Raslat Khob – A Message of Love.

This show, which is artistically directed by Yitzhak Ventura, creates a new and contemporary experience of the music of the desert and the sea.
