Values on the Agenda

The Museum for Islamic Art invites 10th-12th grade students to take part in meaningful study of current, social and moral topics, which develops independent, critical and creative thinking. The topics proposed on the Values on the Agenda program are tailored to the Ministry of Education curricula in geography, history and citizenship.

Track 1 – Lecture and discussion: in this track the students will hear lectures on topics related to history and citizenship studies at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem. After that they will visit the Museum for Islamic Art under the guidance of guides, and will take part in discussion workshops after the lectures.
Track 2 – Dialogue: The students will conduct dialogue on topics relating to democracy and civil rights through simulation and role exchange games which allow coping with presentations of opposing positions. The dialogues will be moderated by public figures.
Track 3 – General education: Opening a window onto the global world and expanding the students’ knowledge of history, philosophy, geopolitics, art and health. The study topics will be tailored to each school ahead of time.

Before each session there will be preparation activities in the class, followed by processing of the material under the guidance of the school teachers and museum guides.

It will be possible to select one session from each track or a number of sessions.

The activity (you may select the type of activity):

Unicultural track: The topic and content of the lecture will be arranged with the school.
Bicultural track: The activity is for two schools together. The topic and content of the lecture will be coordinated with both.

* Prior to each session the students will attend a preparation on the topic in the classrooms.

** During the course of year it will be possible to attend one or two sessions.

The sessions will take place on Sundays, and will last around 5 hours. They are for 50-200 students each.
