Jewelry maker Benzion David is an 8th generation descendant of jewelry makers from Yemen. He learned his craft, in his childhood, from his father and took it upon himself, as a mission, to preserve the secrets of Yemenite jewelry making. Benzion, who designed some of the jewelry used in the Yemenite music concerts of singer Ofra Haza, is one of the only Yemenite-style jewelry makers who still engage in the profession based on the traditional approach. He handcrafts the jewelry, and uses the tools his father brought from Yemen when he made aliyah in the 1950s.

During the master class the artist will demonstrate to the participants how simple silver thread can be turned into jewelry – amazing beautiful and intricate filigree creations, based on the traditional Yemenite technique and using the simplest tools: hooks, pincers and tweezers.

The demonstration, which will be videoed for the attendees from close up offers a unique experience and an immersive glimpse of the process. The participants may ask questions during the course of the master class.

The participants will also try their hand at working with copper coil.
